CM visits Navy pilot’s residence, offers condolences to family

VASCO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Saturday visited the residence of late Commander Nishant Singh, the fighter pilot, who recently died in a MiG-29 crash in the Arabian Sea. 

The Chief Minister offered his condolences to Singh’s family.

The Chief Minister said, “Singh’s death is a great loss to the State as well as to the nation. Losing a man of such calibre is an irreversible loss.”

Urban Development Minister Milind Naik accompanied the Chief Minister during his condolence visit to Singh’s residence.

Urban Development Minister, former councillors Shashikant Parab, Leo Rodrigues, Murari Bandekar and Damodar Kaskar paid homage to the late commander.

Meanwhile on the low voter turnout, the Chief Minister said Zilla Panchayat election has not been forced on the people but has been conducted as per procedures and at the right time when in other States the elections have already taken place.

He mentioned that voting percentage is likely to surge later in the day and added that the municipal elections will be held following a decision by the State Election Commission.
