PANJIM: Revolutionary Goans (RG) on Monday demanded for immediate repair of the water-logged and pothole-ridden underpass near the Goa Medical College and Hospital, at Bambolim.
The RG has issued a two-day ultimatum to the government to carry out the repairs, following which they will do the needful.
The group also criticised the condition of the project worth Rs 8.65 crore that was proposed in 2013, inaugurated in 2016 and has been facing issues ever since.
Questioning the government’s negligence in a project that utilised so much of the taxpayers’ money, RG President Viresh Borkar said even though the underpass at Bambolim floods every year, the government till date has not been able to sort out this problem either due to its inability or apathy.
He also spoke about how commuters and people visiting GMC are greatly troubled because of this. He then criticised the absence of proper signages that indicate the entry and exit points.
“PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar says that the roads have a 10 years warranty but what we see is that newly-constructed roads are all falling apart. The roads built by this BJP-led government do not even last for a year. They are always talking about development but all these highways and flyovers are not for the common man. These are to facilitate the three big transporters of coal,” said Viresh.
