PANJIM: The Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) Logistics Committee has urged the State government to to reduce the high storage charges levied on stakeholders using the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Balli, and to provide quarantine facilities for plants and animals. Led by GCCI Logistics Committee Chairman Chandrakant Gawas, a delegation visited the CONCOR Balli site for discussions with ICD Balli officials.
Among the concerns raised, the GCCI requested a reduction in the high storage charges imposed on stakeholders using the facility and urged the provision of quarantine facilities for plants and animals at the site. The lack of single-window clearance facilities at the depot was highlighted, causing delays and additional costs for stakeholders.

Issues related to discrepancies in shipments according to the Bill of Lading were also discussed. The delegation emphasised the need for improved processes to avoid delays and reduce the burden on stakeholders, who currently face storage and detention charges due to lapses in transportation.
Additionally, concerns were raised about the absence of an RFID scanner at the gate, leading to repeated requests for clearance documents. Alex John, expressed willingness to provide office space to a Custom House Agent (CHA) agent interested in conducting work operations from the ICD site.
