VALPOI: The Shel-Melavali villagers on Wednesday night witnessed illegal cutting of two ‘khair’ trees by unknown persons who had taken the main parts of it while throwing the branches on the main road blocking it. The residents cleared the road for traffic in the morning.
“The illegal cutting of khair trees and supply has been increasing day by day in these areas. The forest officials are not performing their duties properly. They are neither doing late night patrolling nor deputing the forest guards”, alleged locals.
