Parsekar met Singh in New Delhi to review the law and order situation and held a detailed discussion on the terror threats to Goa. “I held a review meeting with the Union Home Minister. I had only called on him to apprise him about the law and order situation,” the Chief Minister said, refusing to comment on whether the meeting was called on following the ISIS threat.
“Security is our major concern and the State government is very serious on the issue of security,” Parsekar said.
Highly placed sources confirmed that the meeting was called following a series of reports of Goa being on the ISIS radar. “Goa being a coastal State needs to be more conscious and careful about border and coastal security. The Chief Minister met Home Minister in Delhi and the issue was discussed,” sources said.
Goa ATS have been on the alert following a letter received at the State Secretariat threatening Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
