VALPOI: The Paikul villagers are feeling like getting reconnected to the world after the the GSIDC rebuilt the Paikul village bridge, which was washed away in the 2021 floods that struck Sattari taluka.
After the original bridge was washed away, the Water Resources Department had constructed a temporary footbrige for the convenience of the villagers, who were cut off from the mainland during floods. But that temporary bridge was also washed away in 2022 due to the over flowing of Ragada river water.

Now the GSIDC has rebuilt the Paikul village bridge at a cost of around Rs 12.50 crore. The villagers have expressed their happiness and now they feels, they are now connected to the world. They have also requested the Government to inaugurate the new bridge before the monsoon starts.
“Earlier our village bridge, which was washed away in floods, was small and narrow in size. Now, the new bridge is broader. Due to this, we won’t be facing any problems,” Ajit Desai, a local villager, said.
