PANJIM: The Goa Mineral Ore Exporters Association representing iron ore extractors and exporters on Wednesday said that the Supreme Court order issued on October 14 is a confirmation of similar order issued by the Apex Court earlier.
GMOEA in a press release issued here has said that the recent order of SC dated October 14 in the matter of Bandekar Bros private limited merely confirms the judgment of the apex court with regard to inventorised ore.
GMOEA has said that Bandekar Bros prayers to get ore deleted from the inventorised list was dismissed by the SC. “This dismissal is in no way contrary to the apex court’s earlier order,” the association has said.
A senior GMOEA member said that the clarification was issued following the SC order to clear off the doubts raised by a section of the media that the order is detrimental to the mining industry.
SC in its order reaffirmed that the ore mined before 2007 belongs to the State government and should be auctioned. Government has already identified 15 million tons of ore for e-auctioning, of which so far five million tons has been auctioned.
