PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday warned that private institutions operating without affiliations and giving false job promises to students in the State will be dealt with sternly.
Speaking at the Swayampurna Goa webinar, Sawant said private institutes who operate without any affiliation and attract students towards their courses by giving them false employment promises will be dealt with sternly and added that the Directorate of Education (DoE) has been issued directions to check affiliations of such institutions.

“Many a times students pay high fees ranging from Rs 1.50 lakh to Rs 2 lakh and even avail loans to undergo courses in unrecognised private institutions. The Directorate of Education should verify the antecedents of such private institutes. Students should also cross check if the private institute courses have due recognition,” said Sawant.
The Chief Minister advised students to undergo courses at the Aviation Skill development Centre at Mopa and the two-year hospitality courses in government ITIs, which offer 100 per cent job placements.
He hoped that the State will be self-reliant in marigold flower production and said that during Diwali and Dussehra festival, people were importing marigold flowers from other States but now the import of these flowers had dropped by 50 per cent because people are growing these flowers in the State. Similar is the case of vegetables, which are not exported to other States and advised farmers to focus on diversion of crops or on inter cropping system.
