Vijai too joins chorus

MARGAO: Margao municipal politics over the controversial e-tendering seems to have travelled to Fatorda with Independent MLA Vijai Sardessai on Monday virtually seeking government intervention and an inquiry into the tendered works.
On the other hand, outgoing MMC Chairperson Arthur D’Silva has welcomed any inquiry into the tendered works, but called for an inquiry into the site plan of the works as well. A day after Arthur along with his group of councillors laid the foundation stone for a project in the ward represented by Joseph Silva, Sardessai along with the 12-member group of councillors laid the foundation stone for a project in Acting Chairperson Berta Cardozo’s ward today.
After laying the foundation stone, Sardessai said he is now convinced that certain works have been replicated by the municipality, while demanding that the Director of Municipal Administration should ensure there’s no wastage of government funds. “When the government is talking of zero tolerance on corruption, it cannot remain silent on money being spent by two agencies on a single project. The councillors have already written to the government,” he said.
