Curti-Khandepar Sarpanch Suraj Naik was ousted in a no-confidence motion by 6-0 votes.
Deputy Sarpanch Deepa Naik, who presided over the no-confidence motion, requested the voting by raising of hands.
According to reports, as soon as opposition panch members raised hands in favour of the motion, the other panchas, comprising Sarpanch Suraj Naik, Deputy Sarpanch Deepa Naik and panchas John Pereira, Madhumita Garde and Narayan V Naik, walked out of the meeting.
It may be recalled that Suraj Naik was elected as sarpanch barely two months ago.
The six panchas, Hussain Mullah, Bhika Kerkar, Narayan R Naik, Anita Naik, Parvin Banu Tahsildar and Ravindra Gaude, who moved the no-confidence motion accused the sarpanch acting in an authoritative manner and not taking them into confidence.
Earlier, Deepa Naik had served as sarpanch for 10 months, followed by John Periera (17 months) and Hussain Mulla (10 months).
