Shiroda local held for thefts in Margao
MARGAO: Margao police managed to arrest the accused who had committed theft in a newspaper kiosk at old market, Margao on July 30. Police disclosed the name of the arrested as Maizeem D’Cruz, 21-year-old resident of Vazangal, Shiroda who is said to be involved in two other thefts. It may be recalled that burglary took place around 4 am in the kiosk of Epifiano Vaz and the act was caught on CCTV, the footage of which was given to police. PI Sudesh Naik informed that LIB staff was shown the footage and the accused was identified and arrested. D’Cruz has also confessed to having committed theft in shop of Shameer Ismail Shaikh, at the old bus stand, and also having effected entry into the kiosk at KTC bus stand-Margao. 
Plaint of sexual assault in Margao
MARGAO: A lady complained that three years back, the accused, her neighbour, brought her to Margao in his vehicle by telling her that her father was sick and further took her to a hotel room on Colva road and showed her photographs on his mobile of her taking a bath. She said he further threatened to circulating the said photographs on the public domain and went on to abuse her sexually. According to police sources the accused had clicked the victim pictures while she was having a bath. Margao police have registered the offence and PSI V V Chodankar is investigating.
Plaint of cheating filed in Margao
MARGAO: Margao police upon complaint filed by Hisamuddin Maullim, proprietor Multi Trade Inc, Comba-Margao registered an offence of cheating against accused Shameer, proprietor of M/s Mobher Al-Hadeth, Muscat, for having cheated himto the tune of Rs 4.75 lakh. Maullim stated that Shameer induced him to deliver/supply six cartons of readymade garments worth Rs 4.36 lakh with freight/shipping charges as Rs 31,806 and forwarding charges Rs 7,000 and failed to pay the total amount of Rs 4,75 lakh to complainant thereby cheating him.  
Fishing contest at Ribandar
PANJIM: Fishing lovers of Ribandar United with Ribandar Fisherman Association in collaboration with Rotary Club of Porvorim are organizing the 15th annual all Goa fishing competition along with sea food festival in the memory of late local fishermen on August 15, to celebrate Independence Day and the Feast of Our Lady of Assumption at Ribandar. The event is being held opposite the Institute of Management from 11.30 am. Entertainment programme is being organised by Dr Antonio Soares. Thanksgiving mass at Old Goa
PANJIM: The annual thanksgiving mass (pilgrimage) in honour of St Francis Xavier will be offered by the parishioners of Merces on August 11, at 4.30 pm at Bom Jesus Basilica, Old Goa. Buses will leave form market, church and Angustias Chapel, Vaddy at 3.30 pm. Parishioners from Voilem Bhat, St Caetano, Bamon Bhat, etc, may gather at the usual place by 3 pm.
