Unlike in other states, in Goa it is not very common to see pedestrians using the zebra-crossings while crossing even busy roads. The pedestrians tend to cross the road wherever it is convenient for them.
As a result of this, the zebra crossings seem to have lost their significance in the state. In Vasco, vehicle owners of both two-wheelers and four wheelers tend to park in such a way they that block the access to zebra crossings. This compounds the problem of pedestrians not using the zebra crossing to cross roads. The authorities concerned should see to it that the vehicles are not parked in such a way that they block the access to the zebra crossings so that the pedestrians are not put through inconvenience while crossing the roads.
