PANJIM: The stage roof collapse of Kala Academy’s open air auditorium is likely to rock the first day of the Monsoon Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, on Tuesday.
The Opposition is gearing up to corner the Pramod Sawant-led government on various issues during the 18-day session. As per a circular issued by the State Legislature Department, the session will be held from July 18 to August 10, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.

The United Opposition is set to raise the issue in the House on the very first day demanding a judicial inquiry and resignation of Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude. The Opposition, in the past, had exposed large scale irregularities and corruption in the Kala Academy renovation work- the allegations which were rubbished by the government.
The Opposition, comprising Congress, Goa Forward Party and Aam Aadmi Party have worked out a joint strategy to corner the government on issues like auctioning of mines, law and order situation, rising number of road accidents, Mhadei River water diversion, unemployment, among others.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,387 questions have been submitted to the Goa Assembly, which include 589 starred and 1,798 unstarred questions. Also, as of now, the Assembly has received 10 government bills for tabling and passing. This is one of the longest sessions of the State Assembly since 2019.
