DABOLIM: Rosary college, Navelim blanked Dhempe college Mira Mar 3-0 in the semi-finals to book their place in the final against Damodar collge in the inter-collegiate football tournament of Goa University, at University ground, Taleigao. The teams were1-0 at the half time.
Neceil Pinto scored a brace while Stephen Periera added to the tally.
Rosary college dominated the play right from the start with Austin Fernandes and Neceil tormenting the Dhempe defence and soon took the lead in the fifth minute through Neceil of a Stephen corner.
Rosary’s totally outclassed their opponents for the rest of the half with superior ball possession and attack and the score line would be much more but Jerson Periera of Dhempe college stood tall in the defence.
In the second half, Dhempe started well but couldn’t surpass Rosary’s defence and in the final 10 minutes, Neceil doubled the lead, lofting the ball over the rival keeper.
Stephen Periera scored the third minutes later.
Dhempe had chance to reduce the margin but their striker Mozam opted to hit wide with only the goalkeeper at his sight.
In the other semi-finals, Damodar college edged past Don Bosco Engineering college, Fatorda 1-0.
