On Thursday, there was a heated discussion over forest fire and
illegalities happening in the forest in Goa including the private forest
between the Forest Minister Vishwajeet Rane and Aldona MLA Carlos Ferreira.
It was Aldona MLA Adv. Carlos Ferreira who questioned the
Government’s preparation on Forest Fire
as it leads to reduction of density in trees and increased scope of land
conversion by builders lobby.

However, Forest Minister Vishwajeet Rane replied saying real estate lobby involvement in forest fires
was a myth, and asked MLAs to produce proof, which turned into a heated
discussion in the house.
The laws are very stringent when it comes to forest areas and
wildlife sanctuaries. All the rules are being upheld. We will go by these laws,
said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane responding to demands of LoP Yuri Alemao to
declare wildfire-affected areas as No Development Zones.
