CORTALIM: Blessed Joseph Vaz Boys edged past Quelossim Boys by 1-0 to move into the next round of the Fatima boys First Arvale football tournament, at St Philipe and James Church ground, Cortalim recently.
Both the teams began their moves on high powered classical touches of football. The match for both the sides a bit different as their passes to all the departments were up to the mark as both teams were trying the breakthrough in the match.
After a lot of patience it was Blessed Joseph Vaz Boys who took the lead in the 5th minute when Johnson Fernandes sent in a ball to awaiting Jaison Fernandes inside the rival box who at once curled his shot into the far corner of Quelosslim Boys net to take 1-0 lead.
Thereafter Quelossim Boys tried in equalizing, Milagres took a well groomed shot which was saved by the rival goalkeeper.
Catani goalkeeper of Quelossim Boys credited three smart saves in the final quarter of the match.
