PONDA: Ponda police have registered a case against a man from Shiroda on charges of threatening to assault a minor girl from Shiroda.
According to Ponda police, the incident was reported on July 10 and a complaint was filed by the grandmother of the minor girl. Police said the incident had taken place over a dispute regarding a drain near the complainant’s house and the grandmother claimed that the accused had broken the drain installed by her to stop rain water entering her house.
According to complaint, the minor girl was an eyewitness when the accused damaged the drain. Incidentally, the complainant had approached the Goa Human Rights Commission, the Goa State Commission for Protection of Child Rights and also the Goa State Women’s Commission, claiming that Ponda police were not taking action on her complaint.
The police, however, claimed that the complainant was reluctant to register a complaint.A case has been registered under section 506(ii) IPC and Section 8 of the Goa Children Act. PSI Satish Gaude is investigating the case.
