PANJIM: Upset at the dropping of ailing ex-power minister Pandurang Madkaikar from the Cabinet, his wife Janita Madkaikar has decided to enter into state-level politics.
Janita, who is the Old Goa sarpanch, says that she is ready to take up the responsibility of her husband’s constituency.
“Depending on the decision of my husband and Cumbarjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, if required I would contest the Assembly Elections from Cumbarjua Constituency,” Janita Madkaikar said on the sidelines of a function
She said, “I am working hard to handle the responsibility of Cumbharjua constituency given by BJP to me.”
Speaking on her husband’s health, Janita informed that his health has improved a lot and he would be back soon and start his constituency work again.
Janita also said that the workers told BJP President Tendulkar that if Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is expected to continue as CM, then why the party not waited to decide about Madkaikar’s ministership issue till he returned to the State.
“Workers also asked about issues like development in the constituency, jobs and their works getting done. He assured them that Madkaikar would be made a minister again on Parrikar’s return. He added that he would be given a chairmanship for now. But we will believe it when we get it,” she had said
