Bondla tiger dead

PONDA: Rana, a 16-year-old tiger, died of old age in Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary on Friday, according to forest officials.

According to authorities, the tiger was not feeling well since past few days, as such it was on eggs and milk. But on Saturday, at around 1 pm, it collapsed and died.  The death of Rana has left the tigress Sandya without a partner. According to authorities, Sandya is 14 years old.  
Since the tiger is a Schedule-I animal, Rana was as cremated per the law. 
Rana and Sandya were brought at Bondla in 2009 from Indira Ghandi Geological Park at Vishakapatnam and since then they were big a tourist attraction. 
Deputy Conservator of Forests Anil Kumar said that the forest department would request national central zoo authorities for another pair of tigers Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary.
