MAPUSA: The Anjuna police on Tuesday arrested two other accused Rohit Bhosle and Omkar Pathrud, both residents of Agarwado, Pernem, who were absconding after allegedly mercilessly assaulting Shailesh Jha and Mohammed Saheed Farooq Ahmed from Bengaluru, in a parking lot of ‘Thalassa Restaurant’ at Vaddy in Siolim at 3.15 am after their vehicle grazed against a parked two-wheeler of the accused.
Anjuna PI Prashant Desai stated that Bhosle and Pathrud were part of the quartet gang that assaulted the tourists and asked them to transfer Rs 5,000 to their accounts via GPay. “We have also seized the scooter used by accused to flee from the scene after committing the crime and have also written to the bank to freeze the account into which the extorted amount was transferred. The account was operated in the name of Rohit Bhosle, andlater the extorted amount was transferred into account of accused Omkar Pathrud,” Desai added.

Meanwhile, it was also revealed that the security agency which had employed the accused as bouncers was operating without Private Security Agencies (Regulation) Act (PASARA) licence.
SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi stated that they had summoned the proprietor Deven Arlekar of Goa Force Security Services, Siolim and interrogated him wherein it was revealed that the agency had no licence to operate.
Dalvi said, “We have written to the North Goa Collector to initiate action agansit the agency as per the PASARA.”
The Anjuna Police have booked the duo under sections 143, 147, 323, 324, 326, 307, 384, 506(ii) r/w 149 IPC.
It may be recalled that the police had earlier arrested Praveen Pathrud and his accomplice Jaleel Ahmed, for brutally assaulting the tourists at Vaddy-Siolim and as of now have been remanded to two days police custody by the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa.
Police had swung into action only after the issue was highlighted on social media.
