Police said that from Panjim they were taken to Porvorim and Anjuna Police Stations for safe custody and necessary action.
The Commission has adjourned to January 29 the hearing on the complaint filed by advocate Aires Rodrigues over the November 21, 2015, alleged police abuse at Panjim against peaceful demonstrators seeking justice for Bismarque.
In their reply, police said Rodrigues’ allegation is baseless and not supported by any material evidence.
They also stated that none of the agitators and protesters or those who were placed under arrested have reported abuse and excessive criminal force or manhandling by the police.
“No medical evidence have been placed on record in support of allegation nor statement of any of the arrested persons relied on by the complainant,” the police reply states.
Police have also stated that 103 persons were placed under arrest for violating Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code as there was a ban on all processions, protests, dharnas and morchas within the jurisdiction of Panjim Police Station in view of the International Film Festival of India.
Rodrigues, in his complaint, had alleged that police personnel had very high-handedly abused their powers and used excessive criminal force and manhandled protesters without any provocation.
