GU gives assurance to students about their safety on campus

PANJIM: Condemning the attack on the Afghan student, Goa University has urged the student community to see the incident as a “spontaneous act of crime” and not linked to any other motive or perception. 
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, Goa University Registrar Y V Reddy said that all students are being assured of their safety and security on the campus.
“Goa University strongly condemns the incident and urges this to be seen as a spontaneous act of crime, not linked to any other motive/perception,” Reddy said.
Reddy said that the boy, who was attacked, is out of danger and that all possible help is being extended to him. 
“Goa University authorities are in constant touch with the hospital administration, local police authorities and the ICCR Regional office, Goa to monitor the situation on a regular basis,” he said. 
The official said that all students are being assured of their safety and security on the campus.
“A delegation of foreign students of Goa University was briefed by the SP North Goa with PI’s of respective police stations in the presence of University officials of the measures being taken for their safety and security,” he said.
