St Savio SC humble Benny XI

DULER: St Savio’s Sports Club Calangute scored a fluent 4-1 win over Benny XI Sports Club Mapusa in the GFA’s 2nd Division League match played at Duler Stadium, Mapusa, on Sunday.
At half-time the score was tied at 1-1.
Both the sides adapted to midfield tactics for major portion of the first session where at the half hour mark St Savio managed to break the deadlock when Mathew’s right footed shot was kept away by Benny XI custodian Sarvesh Fadte only to see Deep Govekar who was lurking nearby slot the ball home making it 1-0.
In the 44th minute of play Benny managed to restore parity when Nilesh leapt high above his marker to nod in Chandan Gawas curling cross to make it 1-1.
On resumption of play, Aniket Mandrekar netted in a fine brace in quick succession where first he scored through a placing strike from inside the 18-yard box and minutes later after weaving his way past the Benny XI defender he tapped the ball into the goal.
Moments before the final hooter St Savio took the score margin to 4-1 with Amar Kinekar slotting in Deep Govekar’s shot.
In another match at Sangolda ground, PVC Association Parra and Xetrapal SC Oxel were locked in a goalless draw.
