RAIA: St Anthony SC, Colva got the better of Rossman Cruz Nagoa-Verna 3-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Rachol Overseas Cup inter-village football tournament organised by Raitura SC, Rachol and played at Raia ground, on Sunday.
Both the teams tried their best to try and score a goal with Baptist Fernandes of St Anthony Colva missing a header in the very beginning.
Rossman Cruz’s Stephen Pereira’ shot was saved by Maxon Fernandes goalkeepeer of Colva in the 3rd minute.
Rossman Cruz soon managed to find the nets as Stephen Pereira scored in the 4th minute off an in-direct free kick after Eusebio Fernandes provided the former with the assist.
St Anthony Colva trailing by a goal went all in to find the equaliser and got close through Roger Lourence in the 10th minute however his header was cleared from goal line by Beneston Barreto.
Thereafter Joel Rodrigues shot from close range for the Colva side but Beneston of Rossman foiled his move in the 12th minute.
St Anhony’s Colva through Sneddan Rodrigues finally found their much needed equaliser as Sneddan’s rocket bond shot crashed into the nets in the 13th minute.
Soon it was Stephen Pereira of Rossman who took control of the ball and dribbled past Ronnie Fernandes however Herculano Fernandes of Colva tackled his move in the 22nd minute.
Baptist Fernandes of St Anthony’s Colva went on to give his team a 2-1 lead after connecting to a loose ball from Joel.
Roger Lourenco later made it 3-1 for Colva in the 25th minute.
In the 48th minute Beneston Barreto of Rossman Cruz missed a sitter while Baptist Fernandes of Colva missed a chance to score too in the 50th minute.
St Anthony SC Colva will meet the winners of Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda and Fr Agnelo Youth Centre, Paroda on January 19 in the quarter-finals.
