QUEPEM: Maina Sports Club defeated Ambelim Sports Club 4-2 via the tie-breaker to enter into the final of Fr Agnelo youth inter-village football tournament organised by Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club, Paroda and played at Panchayat ground, Avedem-Quepem, on Sunday.
There was no score till the end of regulation time. The defence of both the teams stood firm to keep their slates clean till the end.
In the ensuing tie breaker Nevil Fernandes, Caetano Viegas, Savio Fernandes and Joaquim Carvalho scored for Maina Sports Club while only Laser Fernandes and Maclon Fernandes succeeded in scoring for Ambelim Sports Club.
Earlier, Guirdolim Sports Club registered a big win over Fr Agnelo Youth Sports Club 6-2.
Guirdolim Sports Club dominated the game right from the start and kept their opponents on their back foot throughout the match.
The highlight of the match was a brilliant hatrick from Sunny Fernandes while Cruz Gomes, Cajetan Fernandes and Rosario Fernandes accounted for other goals for the winners.
Benju Clemente and James Dias reduced the margin for the Fr Agnelo YSC.
