MARGAO: The tenth edition of the national-level UG-PG Medical Students Conference, GOMECON 10, concluded on October 27. Organised by the Goa Medical College Students Association (GMSCA) under the leadership of Chirag Desai and Dhruv Mundhra, along with a dedicated team of over 150 event heads, volunteers, and IMA MSN members, the event attracted more than 500 delegates from 50 medical colleges across India.

The inaugural ceremony saw Dr Suman Kundu, Director of BITS Pilani Goa, felicitated by Dean Prof Dr S M Bandekar, with keynote speaker Dr Gowri Nambiar Sengupta, Director of CHEB, New Delhi, also in attendance.
The conference featured 10 workshops, 10 events, and over 200 original research paper and poster presentations by UG and PG students. Highlights included six sessions covering current medical updates by national-level experts. Keynote speaker Dr Gowri Nambiar Sengupta presented on Assistive Technology, while Col Dr Chetna Arora from AFMC Pune discussed career options post-MBBS. GMC’s own Dr Ankush Desai led a session on managing diabetes-related target organ damage, Prof Bandekar delivered an insightful presentation on robotic joint replacement surgeries, and Dr Dipti Shrivastava offered an in-depth look into cataract management.
Additionally, 10 Heads of Departments across specialties, alongside resident doctors, conducted skill-building workshops, fostering hands-on learning and practical experience among participants.
