PONDA: A scooter rider Arun Priolkar, 28, was seriously injured when a tourist taxi hit him at the Mangueshi junction at around 5.30 pm on Friday. Police said that Arun has been shifted to GMC Bambolim in a critical condition.
According to the Ponda police Arun was first taken to the Ponda Subdistrict Hospital but later shifted to GMC because of the serious injuries on his stomach.
This junction is dangerous and so far several fatal accidents had taken place at this stretch. The junction has one road coming from Panjim and proceeding to Ponda via the Bypass Highway while another leads towards Mangueshi Temple road.
Locals have been demanding proper speed breakers at this junction as vehicles are reportedly seen going at a very high speed. Request to keep a traffic police to man the traffic has also been reportedly ignored by the concerned authorities.
