MARGAO: The annual five km walk-run, a promotional event for upcoming Dr P S Ramani Goa Marathon, was flagged off by Gomant Vibhushan awardee Dr Ramani from Ravindra Bhavan in Margao, recently.
Dr Ramani Marathon is a prestigious event organized annually since 2010 in Ponda by Ahilyabai Ramani Pratishan.
The promotional run, organized by Dr Ramani in association with Margao-based aerobic and fitness lounge, G’Energy, saw close to 300 runners from Margao and across Goa filed across the marked route.
While flagging off the morning run, Dr. Ramani called upon the gathering to make their way to the main event in Ponda.
“I have come here all the way from Panjim just to see you all enjoy the run. I request you all to come for the main run in Ponda on November 3,” he said.
The Ponda marathon will be hosted by Dr P S Ramani on November 3 at Bhausaheb Bandodkar Ground, Ponda. Registrations will remain open online till October 20 and offline at Hotel Menino in Ponda till October 27.
The main aim of the event is to highlight the necessity of good physical and mental health, motivation and dedication with perseverance.
The annual Margao promo run is organized by an all-women group, G’Energy.
The route of the run meandered across Lakeview Plaza, towards Rosary Church, Magsons, turning around the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, back towards KTC, all the way to Colva Roas, taking a turn at Mungul and back to Ravindra Bhavan.
All participants were offered refreshments after the run.
