A group of Vintage car enthusiasts, both, the young and the old join together to share their love
and to celebrate the gorgeous Volkswagen classics. Large number of Indians,
mostly from Bangalore and Bombay are expected to come for the event in Goa
along with their Volkswagen beauties to display their eye catching colours and
shapes. The sound and the sight of these cars put a smile on the faces of not
just the drivers or the owners but also the other road users. Driving these
vintage cars take the car lovers back to the old days, bringing back nostalgic
memories of the sun kissed vibrant beauties on the road.
The classic Volkswagen car owners are all geared up to meet for
the rally to be held at the VolksWeekend 2018 which will happen on Sunday. On
November 4, the rally will be held- starting from the Panjim Gymkhana, towards
the Statue of Abbe Faria in Panaji, and moving towards the Miramar circle and
back to the Gymkhana- where it will be displayed to the public.

The Folks India group, a social media group started by Jeevan
Joy for all the car lovers of Volkswagen’s classics is organising this event,
also supported by the Goa Tourism (GTDC). DheepCaldeira and Ryan Braganca are
the main coordinators in Goa for the event, while Jeevan Joy and ByasNambisan
are coordinating from Bangalore. “Volkswagen 2018 is bigger and better this
time as we are expecting double the number of people we had last year, including
the public display of the vintage beauties,” says DheepCaldeira.
“VolksWeekend is just a casual get together of people who have a
love for the old vintage cars, where they can mix around and discuss their
shared interests”, adds Ryan. He also says that the event has a friendly
atmosphere of people sharing drinks, dreams, nostalgic memories of the vintage
cars they own and food offered by the Folks India group.
Goa being a place of old cars parked or rusting away in the
garages, an active classic car club was formed by DheepCaldeira and Ryan
Bragancatogether, to arouse the love and appreciation for these vintage cars.
In order to keep the cars in good health, the club has Sunday drives with the
beauties which does not just leave the other road users and people awestruck
but also encourages them to fix their old beauties and get them on the road.
The event is hosted in Goa because of the love for the classic cars among the
people, and to give those belonging to the classic cars club an opportunity to
loosen up their selves, interact and enjoy their drives together in the old
vibrant vintage beauties.
Talking about the preparation of the event, Ryan Braganca says
that seeing the response from the VolksWeekend last year they decided to make
it even better this year by deciding to hold the rally. “The preparation
started about 4-5 months ago, where we got together and presented our plan for
Volkswagen 2018 to the moderators of the Folks India Group,” said Ryan. A group
effort by the car enthusiasts to make this event a huge success is done by
coming together and interacting with each other to compliment the beautiful
vibrant view of the vintage Volkswagen classics.
Ryan Braganca also is an owner of four Volkswagen cars, and says
that he prefers old cars over the new ones. Being a car lover himself, he has
offered the guesthouses in Anjuna, Ocean Pearl Guest House and A Vivenda Guest
house for the car enthusiasts joining in for the event.
The classic Volkswagens will be on display on Sunday November 4,
from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Panjim Gymkhana.
