PANJIM: The Investment Promotion Board (IPB) has approved 62 projects with a total investment of Rs 5,231 crore with an employment generation potential of 11,415 in the last one year, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar said on Thursday.
Parsekar said that IPB was formed in November last year to promote investment in the State. He said the government target is to bring in investment of Rs 25,000 crore and employment generation of 50,000 over five years.
“We are on target. In the first year, we have managed to get in projects with investment of Rs 5,231 crore with employment creation opportunities of 11, 415. The projects would be functional in span of one year,” he said.
The 62 projects include the controversial marina projects, which are currently in limbo following opposition from the locals. The Rs 450 crore projects have been refused permission by the Goa State Bio-diversity Board and Goa State Pollution Control Board.
The other projects include six units of distilleries and brewages, six pharma companies, 11 hotel projects, two educational institutions and 32 other manufacturing units including expansions.
