Our close acquaintance would say often, it is advisable to carry your own vessel when you go to market as you know that you would be visiting the fish market. Many a time I witnessed him holding a steel container while purchasing fish with a big shopper with multiple eco friendly bags to purchase vegetables and house groceries. “Next time I want to see you carry your own container”, he would remark with a smile! “It avoids clutter at home. Less waste in the bins and no headache how to dispose it”. Yes, a true lover of the mother earth with green fingers and plants surrounding his premises. He has no air conditioners in the house but his house is cool as ever! You need a blanket to cover when you even lie down for the afternoon nap!
In Anjuna, a villager says, I grow my own kitchen garden and supply multiple organic veggies to my daily customers. He remarked “we choose best doctors for consultation; branded clothing be they shoes, boots, t-shirt and the like. We love to shop for exclusives but we opt to eat junk. We select to buy that which cost less and bargain over few rupees instead of that which would keep us healthy and refuse the organic just because it costs us a few more scents. Astounding, when sick and struck by diseases, no bargaining over the few thousands for the hospitals we favour. And yet, we prefer/do we prefer pesticides grown food”!
