CURCHOREM: South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar has urged the Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to consider on merit the demands of Sanvordem-Curchorem Rail Consumer Association (SCRCA) members to re-introduce the Vasco-Miraj Express via Belgaum which was discontinued during the gauge conversion from meter to broad gauge.
Sawaikar has forwarded the letter written to him by SCRCA members to the Goyal and strongly urged him to consider and solve the problems faced by the commuters by reintroducing the discontinued Vasco-Miraj train or to extend the services of Belgaum-Miraj train upto Vasco.
It may be recalled that SCRAC members demanded to re-introduce the Vasco-Miraj train via Belgaum as people from South Goa including from Karnataka are facing severe hardship to travel to via long routes due to closure of Goa-Anmod road stretch of Goa-Karnataka NH 4A by the Karnataka government.
