Disrespecting Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi is known for his works done during his lifetime. He is highly respected in many countries, the world over, giving him due respect. He had been an inspiration to many world leaders to fight against injustices. Late Martin Luther King drew inspiration from him to fight against racism to give the blacks the right to live in dignity in America. Gandhi has been highly respected for his non-violence movement he started to fight against the British rule in India that we may live in freedom and self respect. He is credited with Father of the nation honor for his valuable contributions to India. Sadly, for his good works, he was gunned down by one of our own man.
A noble mind brings in noble thoughts to share with others. Gandhi Jayanti should have been observed as a day to enlighten our younger generation to grow in the enlightenment of knowledge and intelligence to keep them inspired by the Mahatma. The day should have been marked and observed as ‘Great Leaders, Great Nation’ to inspire our children to becoming leaders of repute to take India to great heights making our country progressive.
May be Gandhi desired to keep India clean; but it’s we who have made our country garbage dirty in recent time not caring for cleanliness. Hence, Gandhi should not be discredited with Swachh Bharat promotion campaign on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2. Ironically, as if to disrespect Gandhi, the Father of our nation, Swachh Bharat comes to be observed on Gandhi Jayanti to clean the nation of garbage to keep the country clean. The dirt is actually within us which we should spit out to clean our selves. Our nation is going through harrowing time with the killings of journalists, attacking minorities, love jihad, gau rakshak, fanaticism and communalism; depriving us of our freedom to live by choice to eat, dress and free movement. Is this the India our forefathers fought for and gave up their life for our better tomorrow.
A sick mind has no direction to go. It sways like a pendulum in the air. It’s high time we clean our nation of such mentality with Swachh Bharat before cleaning our country of strewn garbage everywhere rather than wield brooms wearing gloves to our hands and in well dressed outfits once a year only to be photographed standing in clean places where there’s no garbage.
