Ponda: An urgent demand for funds by the Ponda Muncipal Council ( PMC) has been cleared for the contruction of two of the five projects which were launched prior to the assembly election. The two projects which received an approval from the GSUDA include the contruction of the Shastri Mall for Rs. 12 crores and the municipal garden renovation costing Rs. 4 crores. The mall will be constructed following the demolition of an old building existing in city.
According to Chairperson Radhika Naik around five project were launched by Urban Minister Francis Dsouza prior to the assembly election out of which GSUDA has sent letter to PMC giving immediate approval to two project and allocating fund for it on priority basis and asked to submit plans with due approval Town and Country Planning as early as possible.
She said the Old Shastri Hall building has been in a dilapidated state and report has been submitted by Goa Engineering College Students of its precarious condition and being dangerous for habitation. This new swanky project will have a Shastri Mall, Shopping Centres, Shops , Offices and further a parking provision for around 60 vehicles. She said the PMC garden would be contructed in a aesthetic design specially planned for it.
