VALPOI: Poriem village in Sattari, specifically Tamidgiwada has been facing water shortage for the past several years.
The problem has become acute for the past three days, despite the onset of monsoon.
In time of water shortage, the villagers were using water from a local river, however and ironically, they cannot go to the river as it is in spate besides the water too is muddy.
People in Tamidgiwada that consists of 45 houses with a population of about 400 people, of which 200 are voters, seem afraid to air their grievances openly and have been silently suffering for years.
Womenfolk who use the river for washing clothes are unable to do so now, but the main problem is finding clean water for consumption, cooking and bathing.
Villagers had earlier met the PWD assistant engineer, water supply department Valpoi, but no action has been initiated until now.
All hopes are now pinned on the new newly-elected panch, who they hope would meet the authorities concerned and solve their long-pending problem.
