The origin of this blame game started when Adam blamed God and Eve for his sin of disobedience. When God asked, “Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?” Adam blamed God, “The woman you put here with me — she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.” (Gen.11-12). Adam and Eve committed the sin of disobedience out of their own choice, because of their greed. Yes, greed has no limit; it makes one blind and turns one a fool. Greed is illustrated by Leo Tolstoy’s story, about a farmer, titled — ‘How much land does a man need?’ The greedy farmer got at the end, six feet long and three feet wide grave for his greed. Greedy people are always punished! God drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden.
There are different ways to fix blame; one is, to mix with some degree of truth to make it appealing, as did Satan who asked Eve, “Did God, really say ‘you must not eat from any tree in the garden? ’ Eve said, “… you must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, or you will die.” Satan blamed God that He had not given it to them to make their life complete. The serpent’s truth was, “… your eyes will be opened …” and Satan’s lie was that “you will not surely die.” This was a total falsification of what God had said. It created doubts in the mind of Eve; so they both believed in the lie.

Blaming others is defense mechanism — to preserve self-value by covering one’s guilt of shame. Blaming others is a way of putting others down and pulling oneself up as superior.
A machine does the work for which it is made. A washing machine only washes clothes; a mixer only mixes the ingredients. Similarly, some people’s mindset is like a machine; such mechanical mind operates according to how others have influenced it. They always, do their job of manufacturing ‘boglant’ to put on others because their mindset is influenced like that. Yes, they can’t change their nature as machine can’t change their working, e.g, a mixer cannot do the work of washing clothes.
Some, blame situations. This example explains it. Two sons of a drunkard lived in an unhappy home. Their father came home drunk every day and watched TV, disturbing his children at study time. When they grew up, the elder boy got an award for excellence as a citizen of the town while the younger son was imprisoned for a petty crime. When they were interviewed, the younger son said, “I became like this because of my father who created a bad atmosphere at home.” The elder son said, “I give credit to my drunken father for my success and the unhappy home atmosphere. I was determined to be different.” Here the situations were the same, but their internal ‘talk of the mind’ was different which showed their quality of life.
Mostly, ‘blames’ are with a purpose as was in the Konkani film ‘Boglant” where a young man Cedric and his poor mother were persecuted by an evil uncle who fixed up false charges against Cedric, to separate him from his beloved Marylyn.
As Christians, we need to be aware of Satan’s devices so that we are not tricked by him (2 Corinthians 2:11), for his nature is that of being a liar (John 8:44).
