PANJIM: The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurships has reduced the entry qualifications under CTS (ITIs) from existing 10th standard to eight standard pass.
As per the letter issued by the Ministry of Skill development to all Chief Secretaries, the Recommendation Committee, in its meeting held on December 3, has changed the entry qualification.
As per the new circular the entry qualification in the trades of plumber, welder, dress making, sewing technology, carpenter, painter, surface Ornamentation Techniques (Embroidery) will be only eighth standard.
The circular issued by R Senthill Kumar DDG-II, says “accordingly, State, Union Territories, directorates RDSDEs, directors, HoDs, principals of NSTIs dealing with Craftsmen training schemes are requested to change the above qualification i.e. 8th passed in place of 10th passed in the portal as well database and circulate, disseminate the same information to all government, private ITIs for wider publicity. This qualification would be applicable for the session August 2020 and onwards.”
