GCZMA okays 2 floating pontoons on Mandovi

PANJIM: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has granted permission for setting up two floating pontoon in River Mandovi at Penha-de Franca Village in Bardez taluka.

PANJIM: The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has granted permission for setting up two floating pontoon in River Mandovi at Penha-de Franca Village in Bardez taluka. 
The permission is been granted under coastal regulation zone (CRZ) notification 2011. A pontoon is a floating bridge cum boat that serves as a dock.
The project proponent M/s Sea Eagle in its submission had informed that their proposal consists of two floating pontoons of 10 meter each with a gap of six meters between them. There exists a private jetty around 50 meters away from the proposed pontoons. 
The project, primarily for parking boats, consists of a fixed aluminium ladder / frame and recycled light wood material which will be anchored on the landward side will not have construction of beams in river or use of piles.
The pontoons can be dismantled in the monsoon season and there will be no damage to ecology or landscape. 
In 2015, M/s Ozone Leisure and Resorts Pvt. Ltd  was granted permission for construction of floating pontoon jetty in River Mandovi at Old Goa.
