PANJIM: Narayan Sawant has been appointed as Director of
Vigilance department replacing Amarsen Rane who has been on leave since
December. Officials said Sawant will take charge of the department immediately.
Sources said Rane was asked by the Chief Secretary to go on
leave as files were pending since 2012. Sources added that almost 122 files had
been pending, including one file of deputation allowance of ACB staff that was
pending since June 2014.

In December the Chief Secretary had sought an explanation from
Rane based on certain complaints, which Rane was not able to answer, a source
from the secretariat said.
It has also been learnt that SP Vimal Das Gupta was brought
in and Sp Bosco George shunted out from the department without Rane’s
knowledge. Rane was upset over this.
Rane has been now transferred and posted as Director of
Provedoria and Meena Goltekar has been given charge of Registrar of Cooperative
societies that was handled by Sawant. Y B Tawade has also given additional
charge of Administrator of Sanjeevani Sahakari Sakhar Karkhana.
