Citizens, who have been holding a chain hunger strike that entered its fourth day on Saturday, have demanded that the government demolish the controversial project before December 3, the day of the feast of St Francis Xavier.
The citizens, while pointing out that they had received wide support, including from various political parties, said there is a fear that whatever is being said by the government could just be a ploy to delay the matter.

They said once the matter goes to court, it could prolong indefinitely and they want that process to be avoided and an order to be issued immediately, followed by an immediate demolition of the project.
Lamenting how the serene beauty of the place has got destroyed by the massive concrete structure, the locals said they will continue to protest until the government takes action on the ground and not just by mere verbal assurances.
They added that they will decide after the St Francis Xavier feast on December 3, their next course of action such as holding a mass gathering etc.
