PANJIM: GFDC, over the last few years they have taken a big leap to make a huge impact in the football scenario of Goa and take the development of this sport a notch higher.
Today, GFDC has 35 grassroots centres to promote the official sport of Goa and train kids between the age group of 6 to 14 years. Besides the pre-academies for boys and girls and a residential boys academy. Over 4,000 young football enthusiastic from across the State are frequent goers to the GFDC centres set up at their respective localities, majority of these centres being situated in the hinterland areas. There are 100-odd coaches to assist and mould these kids to become better footballers.
The Member Secretary, Aleixo da Costa praised late Parrikar for his efforts towards the development of football at grassroots level. “Football mattered the most to our Ex- CM and he always expressed his desire to see football in Goa develop into an inclusive ecosystem where everyone got an opportunity to horn their skills. In the years to come GFDC will contribute a lot to Goan football. Our boys are performing well at the state and national level. This goes on to show that GFDC is on track towards its vision and commitment to produce star players for the future,” he told.
“GFDC dedicates wholeheartedly all its achievements to our beloved CM, Manohar Parrikar,” added Costa.
