PANJIM: Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) has decided to reply to the Women’s Commission of Goa stating that displaying condom advertisements on their buses is not illegal and such advertisements are promoted by the State and Central governments.
KTCL General Manager Sanjay Ghate said the Women’s Commission has passed a unilateral order hearing only one side whereas KTCL was not given a chance to give their view.
“We will be filing our reply to the Commission through our legal counsel as we are not in any illegal business. Such advertisements are not only displayed on our buses but are also displayed and shown through other modes of publicity,” Ghate said.
Taking offence to the manner in which condom commercials have been displayed on buses run by KTCL, the Goa State Commission for Women had issued notices to the corporation to withdraw the advertisement with immediate effect.
Ghate said that the Corporation has decided not to withdraw the advertsiements but place the side of KTCL before the Women Commission.Ghate said the Commission should deal with the company that has come with the advertisements not the corporation that is displaying it on buses as part of their business.
