The location near Shree Saibaba Temple at Borim, Ponda happens to be a most critical location. Vehicular traffic remains continuous throughout the day. However, it is rather unfortunate that there is dearth of speed-breakers at this strategic location.
As a result, the devotees visiting this religious spot face great hardships in crossing the road.
During peak hours, the situation turns to be a death trap. Pedestrians remain helpless and they do not have any alternative in order to assure safety to their precious lives. On many occasions, mishaps have taken place here, with some of the pedestrians even losing their lives on the spot.
Recently, a father along with his daughter received serious injuries after a speedy car hit them at the above location. Of course, the two were in the process of crossing the road when the incident took place.
Considering the existing dangerous situation here, it is time for the concerned competent authorities to introduce precautionary measures at this critical area so that the public at large are assured safety on a permanent basis.
Providing additional speed-breakers as also installing traffic signboards (thereby mentioning the prescribed speed limit on either side of the road) would assure relief to pedestrians and travellers alike.
Let us hope that prompt favourable action would follow in this serious matter in public interest.
