PANJIM/OLD GOA: High drama, allegations, protest and face offs between the CM and Opposition took place on a day when Fugitive Siddiqui alias Suleiman Khan was arrested in Kerala two days ago and brought to Goa by evening.
The day started with CM declaring that Suleiman was arrested two days ago in Kerala. But his arrest was announced on Monday 23rd December after completing the formalities, CM said.
Simultaneously, a second video of Suleiman Khan was released from unknown quarters making allegations against Adv Amit Palekar. This video was in complete contract to the first video released by Suleiman after he escaped from custody, saying his life is in danger and he was escorted by the Crime Branch to Hubli and that he was beaten infront of a sitting MLA.
Goa DGP Alok Kumar when confronted with the second video released by Suleman Khan where he has changed his version, refused to comment, saying everything will be investigated. In the evening, DGP had press conference, disclosing almost nothing and every time he was confronted with uncomfortable questions from the press he said that this is part of the investigation and cannot be revealed.
Meanwhile, AAP leader Amit Palekar was summoned to the Old Goa Police Station. AAP and opposition members turned up in big number to support Palekar. At the police station too there was high drama where PSI Suden Redkar allegedly told AAP MLA Venzy Viegas to leave the police station.
Subsequently the long delay in questioning and attempts to keep Palekar at the Old Goa Police station led to peaceful protest by AAP at the police station. They alleged that attempts were made by Old Goa Police to bring Suleiman and Palekar face to face and arrest Palekar.
Finally at around 6.15pm Suleiman Khan was brought to the Crime branch Head quarters in Ribandar. It was also reported that Suleiman’s wife had been arrested by the Crime Branch in a property case.
