PANJIM: Cashew subsidy announced in the 2023-24 State Budget will also be applicable to cashew farmers who have sold their cashews in the last financial year — from January to March 2023, announced Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
Speaking at the inaugural event of the two-day Cashew Festival at Campal-Panjim, Sawant said that support price for cashew has been increased from Rs 125 to Rs 150 in the 2023-24 Budget.
He also announced that the Cashew Festival will be organised by the Goa Forest Development Corporation (GFDC) as a State-level festival every year.
On Sunday, seminars will be organised from 3 pm to 6 pm, followed by cultural programme by Goa’s Nightingale Lorna, a fashion show by Verma D’Mello and performance by playback singer Stebin Ben.
