MAPUSA: The Guirim-Mapusa service road which runs parallel to the NH 66 continues to remain in pathetic condition and poses danger to commuters especially at nights.
The damaged road at the junction near the Green Park had earlier caved in twice due to the bursting of the water pipeline.

It first caved in across its witdth in July 2022 while the second incident was reported in May 2023.
The road has now developed potholes which cause inconvenience to motorists.
“There is no retaining wall and if any accident occur then there is a possibility that vehicles will land in the fields,” said a regular commuter.
“It’s one of the most used roads, but following the incessant rains, the condition of road has deteriorated. The road is paved with gaping potholes making it difficult for motorists to negotiate, especially at nights,” said a local.
“People suffer in silence everyday due to the negligence and sub standard work carried out by the department concerned. In the absence of a protection wall or proper illumination, the area has turned into an accident prone zone making it difficult especially for motorists,” Nitin Narvekar, a regular commuter.
Locals say that constant appeals to repair the road has fallen on deaf ears.
