Controversial ‘Club Tao’ of Calangute finally demolished on Monday

CALANGUTE: The controversial Club Tao of
Calangute came to dust on Monday as the authorities of Village Panchayat took
action by razing the structure.
Locals
had raised concerns, claiming the club was operating an illegal dance bar. In
response to these complaints, the Village Panchayat of Calangute inspected the
restaurant and found that it lacked several necessary permissions.

“Locals had complained that a dance bar was
operating here. After taking cognizance, the Calangute Village Panchayat had
done an inspection. The club did not have the required permissions. The Village
Panchayat informed the higher authorities. Then the panchayat sent the
demolition notice to the club,” Arjun Vipin,

“The
notice was challenged in the Directorate of Panchayats. It was pending there
for some time. Then the director of panchayat dismissed their appeal.
Thereafter the owner went to district court which also dismissed their
petition. So the deputy collector issued orders for demolition,” Vipin said.
