MARGAO: Natives of Navelim recently held a ceremony in memory of Dr Francisco Luis Gomes, whose 150th death anniversary was observed on September 30. Parish priest Fr Arlino de Melo garlanded the bust in the presence of Edwin alias Ciprtu Cardozo, Navelim ZP member. Anthony Alvares, Vice Principal of Rosary Higher Secondary School remembered Dr Gomes as a great physician, writer, historian, economist and political scientist, who represented Goa in the Portuguese Parliament from 1861 to 1869.
