RAIA: Navelim Sporting moved into the quarter-finals of Curtorim Villagers Cup football tournament edging past Fr Agnelo YSC, Paroda, 6-4 via the tie-breaker at Curtorim ground, on Thursday. Fr Agnelo opened the account in the 17th minute through Sezwin Fernandes, who capitalised on a fine cross from Joel Furtado.
Navelim missed an easy chance in the 20th minute with the culprit being Clinton Niasso.
Navelim almost scored after resumption, but Presley Gomes’ try hit the Paroda upright and went out of play.
Fr Agnelo scored the second goal through Shrine Clemente in the 50th minute.
Navelim fought back and reduced the margin through Clinton Niasso following a penalty kick conversion in the 54th minute. Presley came up with the equaliser in the 65th minute.
In the tie-breaker, Navelim scored through Clinton Niasso, Ronaldo Pereira, Darren Peixoto and Velington Almeida. Only Ivon Costa and Velroy Carvalho scored for Fr Agnelo.
