PANJIM: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Town and Country Planning (TCP) Chandrakant Kavlekar on Friday said that government will not grant any final approval for zone change under Section 16B of TCP Act, till the High Court passes it final order.
The Goa Foundation had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking quashing of the provisions of the amended Section 16-B of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) before the Bombay High Court at Goa.

Addressing the media persons post chairing TCP Board meeting, Kavlekar said that the Board has been allowing only provisional approvals and no final approvals for zone change under 16B are granted so far. “We will not violate High Court directions. We will wait till the Court passes its order,” he said.
The matter was last heard by the Division Bench in January, this year.
Meanwhile, on Friday, the Board granted provisional approvals to three cases under 16B, while 22 applications, with total area of 94,884 sq mtrs, under Section 12B of TCP act, were approved.
Kavelkar said that a total 25 applications for provisional approvals were received for zone change, of which only three were granted permission. “Total 22 applications were deferred on various grounds,” he said.
The Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authprity (GPPDA) made presentation on the land use map of Bambolim planning area.
